lessons learned on switching

Recently, I was involved with a core network switch replacement project – now this was for a medium business touching OT. If you have ever been involved with one of these projects, you know there are a lot of moving parts, complexities, and logistics to contend. When there is a fundamental architecture change, the complexity dynamics increase. These projects require planning, practice, and a good design and implementation strategy. Don’t forget all of the peripherals that connect!

There’s an old sarcastic slogan I’ve heard: “You can buy better, but you won’t pay more!” In the world of network switches, it’s possible that this slogan is very applicable. Get a design, brand loyalty doesn’t amount to a hill of beans, find a skilled installer to help design and implement.

When changing switch architectures, you want to inquire about the subtle and the hidden costs. Are you prepared? What do you ask? Reach out to TCPNC!
